I know how fast this time when our children are little passes by, and what I've learned is that no matter how hard we try to slow down and take them in, our babies change in the blink of an eye. And mamas are often the ones behind the family camera, rarely in front of it, so let's take this time to play, snuggle and adventure so we can freeze these fleeting moments with your family.

My goal for your family photo session is to capture the joy, laughter and beauty that make up the story of your family. I capture meaningful images for moms who value real and tender moments over picture-perfect poses.
As a mom of three young children myself, I know kids can be a bit... unpredictable. But don’t let it stress you out! As a Madison WI family photographer I have tricks to help everyone feel comfortable and keep your session flowing along smoothly. And mostly, we'll just follow their lead. If they want to play, we play! If they want to stay close to you, we snuggle! If they want to explore, we explore.
Letting them be their true selves is when their personality shines, and most importantly, kiddos can feel your energy, so take a breath, let it go, and remember the best moments are the ones that happen in-between.

Three-ish weeks after your session, I’ll email you a link to see all of your beautifully finished photos and purchase your Collection. Choose from three Collections – each with a number of Digitals as well as an Artwork Credit.
I have worked hard to source only the best, heirloom quality artwork so you can rest assured knowing your investment will not only be so stunning, but also stand the test of time.

We will meet during Golden Hour (the hour before sunset) for outdoor sessions, or mid-morning for indoor sessions. Just show up as you are, ready to love on your family, and I'll take it from there.
While I always try to get at least one "everyone smiling at the camera" photo, my goal is to catch those sweet in-between moments that are special and meaningful and tell the story of your family.

After your session is booked, you'll receive a detailed Style Guide to help you plan what to wear. Or, Mama’s and littles are welcome to borrow from the Client Wardrobe!
You'll also receive an Artwork Catalog so you can start thinking about what you’d like for Artwork. Choose from a gorgeous Layflat Album (client fav), frame your favorite photo, or we can work together to create a custom wall gallery!

Outdoor family photo sessions always take place during Golden Hour – the hour before the sun sets. This is when the light is soft and glowy (and also the most flattering) and can give your images a little extra magic. Sessions take place on-location at one of my favorite outdoor spots around the Madison area.

Why are madison WI Family Photography sessions offered in the evenings?
Yes! I have a client wardrobe with over 70 dresses for mom to choose from, as well as a growing wardrobe for little ones. Or, since I understand everyone has their own style, I know you may want to style your own family and that’s also great! I have helpful styling resources you can take and make your own, so together we’ll coordinate your family’s wardrobe so you can rest assured knowing everyone will look and feel their best.
Do you help us figure out what to wear?
As soon as possible! I only offer outdoor sessions May - November, and my schedule fills up quickly so it's best to get my on calendar as soon as you're considering a session!
How soon should i schedule my Madison family photos?
Because I am committed to fully serving my families and providing them with the best experience, I no longer offer mini sessions. I have come to find that it can sometimes take a bit for families, especially children, to warm up to the camera, which can leave very little time to document your sweet moments. Without the time constraints, full sessions allow families to ease into the session and relax, which allows for a more well rounded gallery, mixed with both the traditional portraits and meaningful images that tell the story of your family. That being said, family's who are looking for just a few updated photos, or Christmas card shots may find my smallest Collection is a good fit! Reach out for more info!
Do you offer mini sessions?
Your Madison Family Photo session consists of a session fee + Collection. The session fee does not include any images, but because it's important to me that every family walks away with tangible family artwork, in addition to a set of Digital Images, every Collection also includes a complimentary Artwork Credit.
Are Digital Images included?
Yes! I strive to offer the best of the best to my clients, and I know that quality photography services are an investment. Together we can find a payment plan that works for your family.
I do! Sessions taking place in Madison and its immediate surrounding areas such as Cottage Grove, Sun Prairie, Deforest, Waunakee, Middleton, Verona, Fitchburg, McFarland do not require a travel fee, however, sessions taking place more than 20 miles from my home on the east side of Madison will be assessed a mileage fee. Be sure to mention this on your Contact Form and we'll chat more about specifics!

DO YOU TRAVEL FOR Madison Family PHOTO SESSIONS?
My personal favorite is the velvet albums. I love that you can print so many photos from your session and enjoy them over and over again. Not to mention, the velvets are absolutely stunning and such a unique statement piece. But I also smile every time I walk past the framed portraits on the walls in my home. Every family is unique! And I can’t wait to help you decide the best way to enjoy your photos in your home!
