The Story of a Photographer

I've had an interest in photography for as long as I can remember, but my love for photography really began when my first child was born. She grew up and changed, right before my eyes, and it suddenly became very important to me to capture her every detail. Now, as a mom of three, I know that no matter how hard we try, we simply cannot slow down time.

I want to forever remember the faint freckles on her cheeks. The golden specks in her eyes, and the way she puts one hand in mine, and the other around my wrist.

I want to remember my boys' long lashes, the way his double hair swirl gives him an effortless mohawk and how his little hands feel on my cheeks when he pulls me in for kisses.

And my littlest. He has the softest head and the most scrumptious cheeks. He wraps his fingers in my hair and then rests on my chest and I could stay in that moment forever.

These are some of the details of our story. Let me help you preserve the details of yours.

What is your style of photography?

I am a Lifestyle Photographer, or as some say... a story teller. My goal isn't traditional or posed photography. Yes, I do try to get one "Christmas card shot" of everyone looking and smiling at the camera, but I focus on creating meaningful images that make up the story of your family. I want to capture the moments you share with your loved ones, the way you play or laugh together. But don't worry, I will help guide you through your session and if needed, suggest prompts, games or snuggles.

Do you help us figure out what to wear?

I sure do! Outfits can really add so much to the overall look and feel of your photos so I have invested in some great styling resources, all of which I'll share with you in preparation for your session.

How do I book a session?

A $100 non-refundable retainer and contract are due at the time of booking to reserve your session date. The retainer will be applied to your final balance. The remaining balance is then due the day before your session.

Where will my session be?

There's a lot that makes a great photography location... the light, texture, color, all of which are always changing throughout the year. But don't worry, I am constantly scouting photography locations so I'll let you know where your session will be about one week before your session.

If you have a preference for the specific type of location, please contact me before booking.

What's the best time of day for a session?

Golden hour. Golden hour is about an hour before the sun sets and provides soft, flattering, magical light; and great light is what adds the "wow-factor" to photos. Unless there's a significant circumstance, we'll always shoot during Golden Hour.

When is the best time to schedule a maternity session?

Typically 33-35 weeks, but of course, this can be flexible based on how mama is feeling.

When is the best time to schedule a newborn session?

I can only take a limited number of newborn sessions each month, so I recommend booking as soon as possible.

We'll tentatively use your due date as your session date and then finalize your date after baby makes their arrival; usually within the first 10 days of birth.

Do I have to order prints through you?

You don't have to, but I do recommend it. Many big box stores/printers do not print true to color or offer the same kind of ink and paper quality. My computer is calibrated to my printing lab, so the colors I spent many many hours perfecting will print exactly as intended :)

Do you shoot weddings?

I never say never, but as of right now I do not. Newborn, maternity and family sessions are what make my heart happy.
